A New Kind of Sore: CrossFit Experience
I have got to say it and I am not embarrassed, but boy am I sore and I am loving every moment of it! Why are my muscles sore? Well last night I FINALLY went to a FREE CrossFit class at a beautiful local gym and spa. I have been dreaming of trying CrossFit for about a year now as well as join this gym, but financially I was unable to cover all the membership fees. However, in a few weeks my rent will be much lower :) and I will be able to cover the fees so BOOM Free CrossFit class was the ticket last night just to make sure that I would enjoy an hour of clings, burpees, sprints, crazy named WODs, etc…. and heck yes I do! I knew I would and I am so glad I did like the CrossFit class because I think if I didn’t I would be disappointed.
Here is why I liked CrossFit and will be signing up for monthly classes: it was a challenge. As someone who trains year round for long distance trail races and loves working out, I already challenge myself, but there comes a point when you need that extra push because you know you can give more and you miss that team camaraderie. CrossFit was able to give me all of that. When I thought I couldn’t do another burpee, my partner kept cheering me on and vice versa. The instructor was there to push you like a coach and also give you the confidence to know that you can/will complete each workout.
This morning when I woke up my thighs, butt, lower abs, and biceps were sore and I was so excited because that means its working. That means that CrossFit is doing exactly what I want it to do; to build new muscle, push me, and increase my endurance and strength capabilities. Thank you for an incredible class last night, I can not wait till my next one!
